Jacksonville Jaguars Acquire Matt Barkley from Giants

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed quarterback Matt Barkley to their active roster from the New York Giants practice squad, the team announced Tuesday. Barkley, a fourth-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013, has started 23 games in his NFL career with the Eagles, Cardinals, and Bills.
Barkley's signing comes as the Jaguars look to bolster their quarterback depth behind starter Trevor Lawrence. With Gardner Minshew traded to the Eagles in August and C.J. Beathard sidelined with a groin injury, Barkley will likely serve as Lawrence's primary backup.
The 30-year-old Barkley has thrown for 4,584 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions in his career. He has also rushed for 235 yards and six touchdowns.
