Celtic At The Peak As Rangers Lose And Hearts Win

Celtic at the peak as Rangers lose and Hearts win

Celtic took top spot in the Scottish Premiership as Rangers lost at St Johnstone and Hearts won.

Dundee United beat Motherwell and Ross County drew with Aberdeen on Saturday

Celtic’s 2-1 win at St Mirren, coupled with Rangers’ surprise 1-0 defeat at St Johnstone, saw the Hoops move a point clear of their rivals at the Premiership summit.

The Ibrox side looked set to go top when Fashion Sakala gave them an early lead in Perth, but Nicky Clark levelled before half-time and Ali Crawford’s stunning strike earned the hosts a famous victory.

Celtic took full advantage, moving top with a hard-fought win in Paisley. Giorgos Giakoumakis opened the scoring and, although Alex Greive levelled for the Buddies, Sead Haksabanovic netted a second-half winner.

Hearts moved up to third place with a 3-0 win over Kilmarnock at Tynecastle, with Liam Boyce, Barrie McKay and Josh Ginnelly on target.

Fourth-placed Dundee United boosted their top-six hopes with a 2-0 win over Motherwell at Tannadice. Tony Watt and Dylan Levitt scored the goals.

Aberdeen and Ross County shared the points in a 1-1 draw at the Global Energy Stadium, with Regan Charles-Cook scoring for the visitors and Duk replying for the Dons.
