Church President Announces New Temple in Central Mexico

Temple to be Built in Pachuca, Hidalgo

President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced plans to build a new temple in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico, on October 2, 2022. The temple will be the third in Mexico and the first in the state of Hidalgo.

The Pachuca Mexico Temple will be located on a 2.5-acre site in the Fraccionamiento Real de Minas, near the intersection of Boulevard Colosio and Avenida Madero. The temple will be a single-story building with a total of 10,000 square feet. It will include a chapel, two ordinance rooms, two sealing rooms, and other support facilities.

The Pachuca Mexico Temple is expected to be completed in 2025. Once completed, it will serve approximately 50,000 Latter-day Saints in the area.

The announcement of the Pachuca Mexico Temple was welcomed with excitement by Latter-day Saints in Mexico. "This temple is a testament to the growth of the Church in Mexico," said Elder Ulisses Soares, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. "It will be a place where members can come to worship God and receive sacred ordinances."

The Pachuca Mexico Temple will be the 16th operating temple in Mexico. There are currently two other temples under construction in Mexico: the Tijuana Mexico Temple and the Veracruz Mexico Temple. The Mexico City Mexico Temple was dedicated in 1983 and the Mexico City Benemerito Mexico Temple was dedicated in 2000.

The construction of the Pachuca Mexico Temple is a significant milestone for the Church in Mexico. It is a testament to the faith and dedication of the Latter-day Saints in the country.
